My name is Susan Grambau. I am 23 yrs old and from a small town in the Eastern U.P. of Michigan called Sault Ste. Marie. I graduated high school in May of 2004 from Sault High. Right now I am taking classes through Penn Foster College and am getting my Associates Degree for a Veterinary Technician. I recently got married in June of 2008 to a wonderful man. We are currently expecting our first child due in October 2010. I enjoy spending time studying the bible, camping, swimming, boating, hiking, reading, time with my family, and of course with my horses.

Now about my horse life. I started out as a young child riding my aunts horses. I loved riding them and being around them. My aunt had me riding with her at the young age of 2 yrs old. I was hooked after that. All throughout my childhood I had dreamed of having my own horse. Growing up I was lucky to have a best friend that lived next door who had horses and ponies and of course my aunt who has horses.
When I was 13 yrs old(1999) I met my (future) first horse at my aunts. There was just something about Tally that I felt and I was instantly connected to her. I was able to talk my aunt and dad into letting me bring Tally home :). Two months later Tally arrived and I was ecstatic!!

I also grew up in 4-h since I was about 9 or 10 years old. I mostly raised hogs but also had sheep for a couple years and a steer one year. I also showed a couple of years with the horses.

Two years after getting Tally, in 2001, I was able to get a second horse. My aunt bought Jasmine from an auction in Lower Michigan as a rescue horse. Right after Jasmine arrived at my aunts she came down with Strangles but recovered not long after. She was very timid and scared when she came from the auction. My aunt decided that maybe I could do something with her as she didn't have as much time to work with Jasmine. Jasmine came to me in the June of 2001 and with time and TLC she is now an affectionate and loving horse. Jasmine is a trail horse and was a mom in July 2005. Jasmine doesn't have any papers or anything that came with her but the people said she was an arab and she looks like it. They also mentioned she had been on a breeding farm? But they didn't give us many details.

Jasmine was bred in 2004 to an Arabian stallion and in 2005 we had her baby Booker. He is a 4 year old gelding that I am starting undersaddle to become a nice riding and possibe show gelding. Booker is very smart. He is a registered Half Arabian.

Over the last 6 or so years I started, finished, and put miles on a few horses for other people. I have trained/worked with about 6 horses so far and I enjoy teaching them and seeing what they are capable of. I believe in many different methods most of which are the same or similar to training methods from John Lyons, Pat Parelli, Monty Roberts, Clinton Anderson, and many others. I don't just solely believe in one trainers methods. I like to use what some people may call "Natural horsemanship", but I just think it is common horse sense that has been used by trainers and horse owners for years. I like to combine my experiences and knowledge with how each horse's attitude/personality. Each horse is different and may not always use the same methods of training. I dont believe in abusing or forcing a horse into doing something but rather teach the horse and ask them to perform.
Right now I may work with an outside horse every so often, if the oppurtunity comes up, but usually I am not as I am trying to concentrate on getting college classes done. I have been working with my four year old gelding undersaddle.
Well anyways heres a little about me! I love to meet new horse or animal people and am open to chatting so if you feel you would like to comment on my website or just talk horses, then please do send your messages my way! Thanks and God Bless!
